The European Parliament election: this time different?

With the European Parliament Elections on the Horizon On May 14, 2019 you are kindly invited to the Joint Chamber Pre-Election debate to meet the candidates standing to represent Latvia in Europe from the political parties which according to the SKDS ratings get above 5% line . The organizers of this event are seven foreign chambers in Latvia: the American, British, German, Irish, Norwegian, Swedish and Swiss.

Dr. Janis Ikstens, Acting Rector of the Riga Graduate School of Law will provide an overview of the political landscape and moderate the debate among the leading parties running for the European Parliament.

The topic of the Debate: ‘’The European Parliament Election: This Time Different?’’

This is keeping in mind that the elections in May might shake up the European Parliament, as established parties can lose seats to newcomers, the losses by established parties, growing polarization, and competing visions of the EU might produce a more fragmented European Parliament.

This event will provide a unique networking platform and an opportunity to discuss the main issues which affect the economic and social development of Latvia within the European Union.

Admission:        Members of the participating Chambers EUR 20, others EUR 40

Registration:     Please register by email to the Swedish Chamber scc@scc.lv before 17:00, May 10. All registrations are financially binding and non- refundable after May 10.

The debate will be held in English.
